I've got an Asus Z87-c Motherboard and I just got everything plugged in and attempted to get it running. I couldn't get it to start at all. The standby power light comes on, but not fans come on nor any other lights. Here's the kicker: I have no RAM in the computer yet. I only have DDR2 ram and it requires DDR3. Is this normal for a motherboard with no ram? I ask because it was a free motherboard and I don't want to invest in the RAM if it's wonky, I'll just stick with my other computer. I had another person come in a see what he thought, he says that it's normal for a motherboard to not start without ram, but my current one starts fine without it. I thought I would double check. Any wisdom on the subject would be appreciated!
