I have a HP 8100 Elite refurb that has been running fine for 16 months.
It looks like a short occurred at the DVD drive sata power connection. The L casing of the power cable got melted and was smoking.
Where can I find a low cost power cable replacement for HP part# 577799 ?
It's a 8 inch cable, one end is a 4pin atx square that plugs into motherboard SATAPWR1 and the other end is a SATA L with a 3.75 extension to another SATA L.
I should probably also replace the 320W power supply (spare #508154)
It has only three leads coming out; 2x2pin(pwrcpu), 2x3pin(pwr) and a 1x6(pwrcmd). There are power out connections on mobo (pn# 531990), satapwr0 and satapwr1, both 2x2pin. dvd and drive #4 was connect to satapwr1. (The drive is working fine despite catching some smoke grime and heat marks)
Any recommendations welcome. I was looking at EVGA 500 W1 80+ on amazon but didn't see the 1x6 line i need for pwrcmd
