Nope, the motherboard and CPU won't work together, different sockets. I'll recommend "playing" here https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ it'll help avoid most incompatibility issues. Also, I would avoid the Corsair CX PSU's as they tend to be short lived

This build is the sweet-spot for 1080p gaming and the best price/quality ratio.

If you're going for a 980Ti - the system is total overkill for 1080p gaming. 1440p g-sync monitors are very expensive. I would personally go with R9 390X and a Free sync monitor.

Modified build with a new skylake system, reasonable cooler, platinum PSU.
