suddenly have low fps for all games on my pc

computer specs are the following

- windows os 8.1 64 bits
- 8 gb ram
- asus amd r9 280 series 3gb
- i5-4690 cpu @ 3.5 GHZ, 3500mhz , 4 cores
- corsair hx750i

i suddenly have very low fps ( 1~30+ ) for all my games and I'm not sure what happen.

methods that i tried out

- full scan for virus
- defrag hdd
- uninstall and reinstall drivers etc.
- trying out different setting for my games but it all ends up the same fps from highest setting all the way to lowest setting
- checking the cables of the cpu
- took out and re put in the gpu

games that i tested the fps were the following

- CS GO
- Tera Online
- WarFrame
- Insurgency
- Dota 2
- League of Legends
- Smite
- Bioshock Infinite
- Lego the movie game
- and so on

so i'm kinda out of methods and hoping some one could help t.t

I would install some sort of GPU monitoring software (e.g. MSI Afterburner) to see what it is doing. You might have throttling due to overheating, which can be caused by dust buildup or bad airflow.

Power delivery and malware might also be suspect.

There are quite a lot of things that could be causing this.

Check any programs you installed recently. If you notice a correlation between the fps drop and a programme then try installing it and see if it's better. One of your installed programmes could have a background process running that's taxing your performance which brings me to the next point.

Open your task manager and stop any unnecessary processes and look for any that you don't recognize. It could be that you have a lot of stuff running you didn't even realise that's demanding.

If it's still not working try running your computer in safe mode and try to run a game, if it still lags then it's most likely a hardware issue but if it's okay then you know it's most likely a problem with your software.

so i installed hwmonitor and the temps are the following

i5 temps are 34 degree (98 F) min ~ 42 degree (108 F) Max

GPU Cards are 36 degree min and 37 degree max

as for task manager there was no processes that is out of place.

not sure about power delivery and malware yet as of now

for the safe mode i will try after a few more attempts
