Ok, so first thank you to any who are able to help me sort this out, if thats a possibility.

Months back, my homebuilt Desktop was working fine (other than me having to keep the side panel off b'c the MSI 7901 I purchased was overheating. Newegg opted to sell it even though it had been recalled unbeknowst to me till too late). I had some errands to run, so I just manually powered down. I come back home, power up, and get the Checksum error. After changing the battery, and going through much aggrivation I simply said eff it. I just started tinkering with it again. Went out, purchased a new HDD (WD Blue), new SATA cables, (realized I forgot to take the tape off the battery as well /sigh), start her up...and again. Checksum error. I only have a minimal amount of hardware experience, enough to know whats what I guess. But I've read online about IDE cables being plugged from the HDD to the MB. I looked on my MB, checked to see if I forgot to connect any cables from the powersupply...I'm seeing nothing. In the BIOS it keeps setting my floppy drive as boot device, (which I keep changing back), and it's showing there is now Primary Slave device. I'm at a complete loss on this. Any new insight or suggestions (other than throwing it out the window) would be appreciated =)

Hey there, Pineapplelucky!

It seems like you're in a pretty annoying situation with your system. I'd suggest you to try with a different CMOS battery and make sure the one you have is not under-voltage as it might not have enough power to keep the BIOS settings saved. Another thing you should check is your motherboard manufacturer's website and make sure you have the latest firmware/BIOS for your model. Flashing BIOS is a very delicate procedure, so make sure you follow your mobo manual instructions.

Give it a try and let me know it goes! Hope this helps you! :)
