Setup is pretty much what the title says.

To be more specific:

Mobo - P8Z77-m Pro
GPU1 - GTX 560ti (PCI-E 2.0 x 16)
GPU2 - GTX 970 (planning to get this one soon, hence the question) (PCI-E 3.0 x 16)

970 will be used for main monitor (gaming, working)
560ti for support monitor 1080p (less demanding stuff)

P8Z77-m Pro has 4 PCIe slots, description of which can be found here:

It is all so messed up especially the N/A in table, not to mention that cards are 3.0 and 2.0, so I just can't wrap my head around this.

Basically the question is - the best setup of those cards:

1) 970 in slot #1 / 560ti in slot #3
2) 970 in slot #1 / 560ti in slot #4
3) 970 takes 2 monitors and sell 560ti

If option #1 will end up forcing 970 to x8 then I guess option #2 is the way to go, unless I'm missing something and should go with option #3 (this might effect which card I'll buy instead, that's why I'd really like to know).

P.S. Here is one more picture that I guess confirms that option #2 is Okay:

But I still have no idea how option #1 will end up (x16+x16, x16+x8 or x8+x8? because 560ti is 2.0), though I guess if option #2 works I'll work it out myself when I get my hands on 970, so it would be good if someone could at least confirm that I understand correctly.

I also have a P8Z77 mobo, the P8Z77-V LK. Firstly, you *can* run two different cards w/o issue. I've run a GTX 670 and a Radeon 5750 in my board without issues. The Z77 chipset has a limited number of PCIe lanes, which accounts for the restraints you're encountering. I don't believe that you'd have any bandwidth issues running a 970 at PCIe 3.0 x8 speeds, but if you want to be sure, you should be able to run the 560TI in slot #4, and keep slot #1 (with the 970) at PCIE 3.0 x16. Just don't try to run any games on the 560 TI...

The question wasn't about if they can or not - yes they can, as long as there are enough slots and lanes. The question is more about 970 working on x16 and best slot for 560ti (option #3 is only for case where 970 can't run x16 with second PCIe extension on this mobo).
