Slightly more than $500 you said $550 max though, but an i5 and GTX 960 is a great combo for the money.

Yeah but the mobo is overkill for a locked i3, and 2x4GB RAM in dual channel will be faster than a single 8GB stick. Also the thermaltake TR2 is a very low quality PSU, you will be putting your components at risk.
