Obscene Spike In CPU Temps

My temps as recorded by Realtemp have increased a lot for whatever reason. A day ago, I could run Cinebench R15 at 60c max on my 4790k (Stock) and I was idling 23c earlier.

Now, after I removed some old Corsair USB dongle software crap and Windows 10 updated, I'm getting 66-70c in Cinebench and I idle nowhere as low as I was less than an hour ago.

What gives? It makes no sense. Windows did update, but I cannot explain this. I'm sort of freaking out because it is very sporadic and obscene and it is really pissing me off.

Ambients are the same, 21c. I cannot explain this at all.

Edit: It seems to be caused by this Windows Defender .exe.

On startup it causes around 30-50% CPU load before settling to 0% after a few minutes. However, this must be the reason why it is screwing up my idle and load temps from Realtemp.

It must have been the Windows Defender update today that caused it.

Anyone else experiencing this to verify though?

What is wrong???!!!

Hey,

Try and open a command prompt (as administrator) and type this command...

sfc /scannow

Press enter and leave it for a while, there should be a percentage to notify you when it's done, one finished it will either tell you that it found errors and fixed them, founds errors and could not fix them or that it did not find any errors.

As a starting point, run this command and get back to me on this thread with the results.
