Ongoing booting issue, please help!

New computer worked like a charm for the first month or so.

Went to go install new video card - computer then boots for a couple of seconds and turns off... and tries again and again automatically with the same results.

I take out the motherboard (while keeping everything but the gpu + case fans plugged in) and works normally.

I put everything back in and it works.

Fast forward two weeks later and now I am putting in new ram. Same issue. While taking out the motherboard allowed it to boot normally, putting it back in did not fix the issue this time.

It is clearly a mounting issue of some kind, as taking out the gpu or case fans won't fix the issue. I am assuming it has to do with the motherboard and the case as I feel I have eliminated everything else. That said.. I can't figure out what would cause this.

I don't know if the models would help, as the computer has worked fine otherwise. Is it a matter of metal touching the motherboard somewhere? That really feels like bad design if that is the cause.

Any help would be great - thanks!

When you installed the motherboard, did you line up the motherboard holes to make sure the screws are centered? It usually doesn't cause issues, but there still is a possibility for a short. You made sure there isn't an extra post under the motherboard where a mounting hole doesn't exist?

Yes everything was lined up to the best of my ability. Looked good last I checked. I will definitely take it apart again and really give a close inspection because I couldn't find anything like that last time. The only real possibility I could see was a metal tab that is meant to the house the psu that is bent up and may be touching the motherboard underneath. I don't know if this could be it because I have a pretty average-sized psu and you'd think for a really popular antec case this would be an issue everyone would have. I did try sticking a styrofoam like substance between the tab and the motherboard but it didn't change anything. What's more is that it has always touched it and it worked fine before. I am so confused... I guess trying out a new case is the way to go if I figure out what the issue is.
