I am planning to upgrade my very old computer specifically the video card. I have an aged Foxconn A74MX-K motherboard running on AMD Phenom II X3 CPU. I know I need two 6pin connectors for power for the R9 380 and 285 graphics cards an I already devised a plan on how to make that happen, i.e. cable adapters/Y connectors etc. But the main question is will the motherboard be able to support those cards? Appreciate the help and answers you can provide.

Hello

Yes the motherboard will support those cards. The only problem you might have is that the CPU or motherboard will under utilize the GPU. This will make the CPU the bottleneck and you wont get the full benefit of the card.

So it will work if you are fine with that. Then you can swap out the board and CPU at a later stage if you upgrade again and keep the card.

Hope this helps :)
