replaced pwr supply, reset sometimes works. also changed memory and cd player, managed to get win xp pro to load once, ran for 2 hours, did disc clean up, defrag, and deleleted all email and temp files, safe mode works sometimes after hitting reset a few times.
after shutdown, will not start.

The internet says "basic 64K ram failure. I have product ID but not the XP disk.

Hello

I don't have a lot of information to work with, so I am assuming that you are referring to the Windows power save mode. To change the power plan got to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options. Then select High Performance mode. This mode favors performance above saving energy. This works in Windows 7, 8 and 10. For Windows 10 press the start button and type Control Panel and select it. Don't go into the Settings menu because the layout is different.

Hope this helps :)
