I have two options in upgrading my CPU,

1. Get a LGA1150 mobo and buy a decent Core i5 CPU.
2. Buy an i7 3770 CPU.

My PC Specs are :

  • Motherboard : Asrock Z68 Pro3 Gen3
    CPU : Intel Pentium G645 @ 2.90 GHz
GPU : Asus Radeon HD 7770-1GD5
    RAM : Kingston HyperX blu 8 GB DDR3 Kit @ 1333Hz

I am going to upgrade my CPU soon and I am not sure which option is better.
Note that i'm not going for the AMD CPU

i'd go for tie i7-3770 and just swap it in. ideally the k-version since you have a Z-series board, but the rest of your hardware - especially the graphics card - would be at a lower level then. still, if you can get the i7 cheap enough, i'd do that. it's a lot less "take apart, put back together, reinstall Windows"

Wow. Thanks for the fast replies, I was asking because the 1155 CPUs are older and because of the compability issues.

I guess i will go for a i7.

Thanks!

Edit : I know my gpu is a bit old but it should serve well for at least half a year. I don't think i will get the K one because there is nowhere to buy it in my country (and I am not a big fan of online shopping)
