Hello all,
my HDD fried a couple days ago, so now that I have to replace it I was planning on mirroring with two HDD. I usually leave my pc up all day; I was therefore thinking about having one regular 7200 rpm HDD and one NAS HDD. I was wondering if the difference in rpm (the WD I was looking to buy is IntelliPower, so 5400 rpm) would cause any troubles.
Thanks all for the feedback.

So you have a hard drive failed and you are replacing it with a faster drive than what it is? that is fine just if the drives are in a NAS though and in a hardware RAID it would be better to get the WD RED for the NAS. The blacks/blue will works but can cause more issues down the road.

DO NOT I REPEATE DO NOT USE WD GREENS FOR RAID!

Hi drtweak,
thanks for the reply. The failed hdd is a regular, desktop drive at 7200 rpm, which I will replace with a similar one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840). On top of that, considering that I use the computer a lot and I often leave it running for days, I wanted to add a NAS drive in case the hdd fails again. I understand that NAS hdd are built for continuous use, so that offers a better durability. The NAS drive I was looking at (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236342&cm_re=nas_hdd-_-22-236-342-_-Product) is 5400 rpm; I know that in mirroring, two hdd will continuously sync (copy) files, so I was wondering if the difference in rpm causes a problem.
Any further input is welcome, thank you
