Solution
Strange.
Possibly with windows 10 and the 6600k being new, it is simply a reporting error.
Run cpu-Z which should tell you have 4 cores.

If that shows two, go into msconfig and make certain that the number of start up cores is 4.

Another possibility is that the motherboard bios has a problem and is defaulting to 2 cores.
Possibly there is a motherboard bios update.

I suppose it is possible that you have a defective cpu, a call to intel support might help.

I notice you're using a latest generation processor. I assuming this is a fairly new build...pay close attention to the solution about chipset drivers. Go to your motherboard manufacturers website and download/install the latest drivers for your board. Also PUSH windows updates by forcing Windows to check for the latest updates - even though it already says it's up to date...click "check for updates" anyway and force it to further update

You can also go into the device manager and remove all cpus there and reboot it should now say 4 cpu cores but if it already shows 4 then I would look further. Ran into that issue some time ago upgrading a clients old e 8400 to a q 9300 quad in the device manager it show 2 cores e 8400 and 2 cores q 9300 quad I removed all those and rebooted and it showed 4 also in msconfig go to advance tab uncheck number of cores as well before reboot.... Hope this helps/

Well I fixed it by reinstalling windows, I know it's long but I had all important data, like GTA 5 (60GB) on a hhd , now it works fine, I think it may have been a virus as my ram was also been taken from a unknown sources, 2GB of Ram just wasn't being shown.
