Solution
If he is playing demanding games, get rid of the GTX 950 and get either a GTX 960 4GB or a GTX 970; if you have the budget, a GTX 980 or a GTX 980 Ti.

I recommend changing out the power supply for a non-generic PSU manufactured by a well-known manufacturer, such as EVGA, SeaSonic, Super Flower, Thermaltake, Cooler Master, and Antec (there may be a couple more, but these are currently the only ones I can think of at the moment).

Other than that, your friend's PC build is pretty good. :)

Oh my mistake. I thought your friend was building one.

Is building one an option for him? If not, he can look into custom retailers online such as CyberPowerPC, iBuyPower, Digital Storm, and all that. :)

It looks like a list made in cyberpower or similar, doubt prebuilt "gaming" PCs like you find on ebay would put a liquid cooler on a locked CPU.
In that case, I would suggest him to modify his parts list or hopefully build his own and save a lot of money. Some improvements that would be good for that build:

- Ditch the i7 for an i5 4460 or 4590(same performance in games), if he doesn't believe that, me and most likely other people will post a load of benchmarks that say otherwise

- Ditch the cooler (pointless for a locked CPU) and use the stock one that comes with the CPU

- Get a cheaper H97 mobo since overclocking is irrelevant (locked CPU)

- Get 8GB RAM instead of 16GB since 8GB is PLENTY for gaming

- Ditching the optical drive is optional, would save a few bucks unless he needs it, you can install the OS from a flash drive btw

Now he should have room for a GTX 970 which will destroy most games at 1080p.

Alright, that build is all messed up. I'm going to guess you'll want a PC at about the same price as that, so here's what you need to do. Switch out the i7 for a high end i5, (like the i5 4590) the i7 is overkill for what it'll be used for. You don't need that much RAM, 8 GB is good, 16 is just overkill, it will make practically no difference. As for the GPU, that is WAY too weak, you make the other parts useless with that GPU. If you can, go with a GTX 970, makes a good pair with the i5. You don't need a cooler, the CPU is locked. Same thing with the motherboard, you don't need one designed for overclocking when you can't even (and don't need to) overclock. And as for the PSU, I would go with HEXiT's suggestion above, the one you have listed is NOT good.

32Mb cache hdd? During the reign of the wd/Seagate 64Mb cache 1Tb? Sounds fishy, cheaper off brand probably. All that info on the Asus board, yet ddr3 1600 and 500w standard psu? This reaks of ibuypower type pre-built pc's with unreasonable limited choices.

My advice, ditch the whole damned website, go to pcpartpicker.com and build your own, tailoring for budget.

Exactly. Never buy pre-built gaming PC's, they will either be a rip off or completely unbalanced, or sometimes both.
