Having a problem with my computer. It was working fine, I was playing a game on it as I have been the past few weeks. Randomly it just froze, audio was still running, but nothing was working. I waiting but nothing changed so I manually powered off the computer. When I attempted to restart I get nothing. No bios, just a black screen. The monitor doesn't even seem to be establishing a connection with the computer.

Also there is no beep. Everything is powering on as normal but I usually get a single short beep then the bios loads. Now there is no beep at all and the computer just runs but nothing happens. My friend is suggesting my mobo might be shot, but before I go out and buy a new setup I was hoping for more opinions?

p.s. I have experienced some freak occurrences recently. I've had to reformat twice in the past two months because the computer just randomly decides not to go into Windows. (Windows is corrupted or has an error). Can't file repair, only solution was a complete reformat and clean install with updates. I did update Bios and all drivers each time. I also ran tests on the HDD to make sure it wasn't a bad HDD, it came back clean. Had two dimms of memory burn out maybe 6 months ago. That's about all I can tell you.

I didn't toy with it at all last night. When I woke up I turned it on and I got my normal single beep, windows loaded fine. I left it running for about 30 minutes and then it froze again. I manually powered off. Now it is back to not starting. I am wondering if the CPU might be overheating?

When I ran bios the other day I noticed my temperature on CPU was around 95 degrees. I'm just reading online now and it said an i7 920 should be running at 75-80 degrees. So I'm starting to think overheating might be the cause here and I'm just hoping I haven't burnt out the cpu because it's a 1366 socket and they don't even make that any more :(
