I use two 4TB WD external hard drives. One of the adapter is malfunctioned so i need to get another one. I asked local pc stores around and they said they only have 12V 2A adapters. Mine was 12V 1.5A. I digged my house in case find something useful then i found 12V 1A adapter. What a bad luck! For private reasons i cant get something online right now so is it have to be 1.5A adapter or others wil work? Thanks.

Solution
Hey there again, brennar4521!

I'd strongly recommend you again to contact our customer support just in case. They might be able to provide you with an alternative solution to your issue and hopefully you'd be able to avoid potential overpowering of the WD external. Better safe than sorry, right?

Hey there, brennar4521!

Sorry to hear about the malfunctioning cable! :( However, it's highly recommended to use an identical adapter with the same 1.5A, otherwise you put the external WD drives at jeopardy. The amperage difference could harm them, especially if they are overpowered. Here you can find your WD external's model and check for available compatible replacement power adapters: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=EKoT5k
We've got product replacement cables available on store.westerndigital.com as well, but you've also mentioned that you are unable to purchase them online at the moment. So I guess it's better to get in touch with our customer support and let them know about your adapter issues, you can contact them either by phone or e-mail.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck!

For some reason your links stay at white page and wont load. I googled wd store and i found 18W adapter but looks like you guys dont send it to my country. Thats means I wont able to get it from you in the future :/

There must be something special about the WD if it requires exactly 1.5A and can't handle a higher powered PSU.

In the world at large, say your typical wall socket can provide you up to 15A but most of your appliances use a fraction of that capacity and we plug things there everyday.

Maybe a warranty issue. Use anything other than OEM, voids the warranty?

Guys at store said nothing happens we use those 2A adapters too. One of my drives has irreplaceable data but other one doesnt. If I cant find it I will have to try 2A or find any another 18W adapter (will test voltage and amperage with meter of course) then do some wiring, cause its hard to switch adapters every time. Warranity isnt important for me.
