I am running a Gigabyte Z68AP, which is about 4 years old. Since the last two days, the computer has been rebooting within 5-10 mins of starting up. I opened the case and checked individual components for signs of heating up, and found that the Intel Z68 chipset's heatsink is extremely hot and is probably causing the reboots.

How can I stop the chipset from overheating? The heatsink doesn't seem to be removable.

Update:

I checked the BIOS for PC Health Status. The Current CPU Temp is 52 C while the Current System Temperature is 44 C. The computer has not shut down for 15 mins while on the BIOS PC Health Status.

Yeah those things get really hot, too hot to touch even.

Check capacitors, look like tootsie rolls sticking up from the mobo.
I'd bet a dollar that some of them are bulging. A bulging cap doesn't do its job and can cause some thermal shut downs as you describe.
