ok i have i72700k sandy bridge cpu .asrock extreme 4 gen 3 mobo .32 corsair memory. have two gpu,s in crossfire sapphire vapor r9-290x 8gb power supply corsair 1200 ati , samsung ssd,s in raid 1t total . 4 samsung hhd,s in raid ,for drive d . one blueray read write one dvd read write . water cooler for cpu. corsair closed loop . . for cooling top fan 140. front fan 120. two side 120. .
my issue is over heat or primary gpu. in past with singel . did run hot. using msi afterburner to maintain 80% when gaming .no problem . i put in second safire 290x . and now performance in gaming poor . i just got battlefield 4 , and after 15 min of play it gets hot . up to 80c . just top card , their is about half inch of space between top and second card .
so i am looking for solution . thinking a better mobo to give more space between cards . or perhaps .build a water cooling loop for the two gpu,s . come this far .and feel my baby is almost their , but she is not there ,

case is full case phantom , safire R9-290x are huge ,gpu,s . and do take up space .and yes being amd .love to make heat , i am not a fan of amd . but i do have 4k asus monitor 28inch . and reason i did go this way ,for the 8gb memory ,inpast i did have 770 in sli .was a dream . but i wanted to get into 4k . which i do not run at 4k , just bit under say 3200 by 2000 or something like that . lve the quality . i notced game play is better at hig settings . but heat is killing me . at time pc feels like a space heater , it does provide heat i have to say ,but when summer rolls around i will definitely have an issue .so i put a lot into this pc .and to have it perform in present state is very disappointing .
Card s turn red.meaning led warning .at 80 and loose game performance. It is only primary card no issues with second .
I believe I am bottle necking. First card uses PCI 16 slot second pci8 .i believe I need better chip set .like z77 to match my i727000k. Anything more I might as well do new mobo and CPU start over.
