So I've been trying to run 3 pass DBAN on my computer (1 1tb hdd) and it has worked fine before till now. Partway through the 1st pass, it starts printing out a call trace followed by

? call_rcu_sched+0xd/0x10
? radix_tree_delete+0x112/0x230
and so on and so on. I've left it running longer than the estimated time displayed, but still the same screen. Any answers/help?

I can attach a pic of the full printed text on my screen if anyone needs it.

If you just wiped the first 2% of the drive the Windows install disk would tell you the drive is empty. A good recovery tool would be able to get it back.
It is possible to wipe all drives on the system using DBAN, including the USB drive you booted from.

The only time I've seen errors like that, it was caused by a bad burn of the DBAN cd. Try making a boot USB drive and running it from there. Please don't do what my coworkers have done and wipe the USB drive. If you do, make sure you can blame it on someone else!

I'll try that, and what do you mean wipe the USB drive? You mean have DBAN wipe itself and not the HDD?

Update: So I just went ahead and booted from a win10 USB install, evidently there's no data on my HDD despite DBAN failing.

Ok thanks for that info, not really too concerned since the hdd is staying with me till it dies. And I'll be sure to make sure to create another DBAN disc/USB
