Skylake, Devil's Canyon, or FX series

Currently my system is as follows:

Pentium G3258 @ 4.3GHz
MSI H81-MP33
8GB RAM
Radeon HD 7950 3GB (HIS blower model)

I was thinking of upgrading my MoBo to a z97, and dropping in a K series i5 Devil's Canyon.
But I saw that the Skylake chips were out and am also considering biting the bullet and dropping $450+ on a complete platform update.
Also, I have been considering switching to team red with a switch to the AM3+ FX 8320. I'm aware of the "more cores but they're weaker/dead platform" argument and this has been something I'm willing to look past if its a large improvement over my current system and is cost effective. There is also a new AMD chip releasing in the beginning of next year. If that is a vast improvement I may hold out on a major upgrade.

I mostly play Arms 3, Skyrim, Insurgency, and Elite: Dangerous. All thoughts and opinions welcome! Thanks!

Well with all the games that you have listed i will say this

Switching to ANY amd processor from what you have now listed above would be a downgrade, not an upgrade.

I own all of those games except for elite dangerous and i use to own the 8350, which ran those games VERY poorly especially arma 3

If skylake is within your budget limits, amd processors should not even cross your mind

LOL even an i5-4460 will seriously pwn an FX 8350.
