Hi, I have been away from computer hardware for a few years, and BOY am I rusty!

Cut to the chase: I have a computer I know little about, other than the motherboard's housing for the CPU fan (heatsink?) is broken. The clip on the fan has nowhere to grasp on to, and I thought about replacing the motherboard, but then I got thinking I may be able to replace the heatsink all together. The only problem is, I don't know what heatsink to get, and if it comes with the plastic housing that is attached to the motherboard. I assume the plastic piece on the motherboard can be replaced, and if it can, I don't mind buying a whole new fan (heatsink?) to fix the issue.

The motherboard in question is https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M4A785TDV_EVO/

and the plastic housing that is broken, is the black area around where the CPU rests.

I found little info on the cpu fan other than a model number : HKM-7M52A-A1 GP, but this confused me more.

I apologize if my lingo is a bit off, but I think I can grasp at any straws you folks provide. Thanks!

That is definitely my intent, I'm just not sure exactly what to look for as the last time I did anything with a motherboard or cpu etc. was years ago. By looking at the motherboard, can you help narrow down the style/type I should be searching for? I can pick one if I knew what to look for, thanks again!

i was able to pull up the bios, and got this data on the cpu:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor
Revision: C3
Cache L1: 512KB
Cache L2: 2048
Cache L3 6MB
Speed : 3400Mhz
HT Frequency: 2000Mhz

I hope this helps

*EDIT*
There is a pretty good amount of room in the case, however this PC is just for an office worker, so nothing fancy is needed
