So currently my I7 4930k failed on me and I have been looking at the x99 platform for my work. Right now i do light gaming, 12 hours a day 3D rendering and a lot of AutoDesk.

My setup will be a 980 (Gaming) and quadro k4000 (rendering)
Cons and pros for

-5820k

-5930k

Which one would be the best for me?

There is a $200 difference between the two CPU's. I doubt you will find much difference in the light gaming, but the 5930k will offer and advantage on AutoDesk.

The main differences are that the 5930k offers more PCI lanes, which benefits the GPU, a faster clock speed of 0.2 GHz, and overclocks better. For most users, the 5820k is already overkill, and the $200 to jump up to the 5930k is better spent on other components such as a better GPU, or SSD.

These might shed some insight..

The 5820K has 28 PCI lanes, whereas the 5930K has 40. If you plan to SLI the 5930K might be a better choice.

I went the 5930K option because the price difference was not important to me. I wanted to go the 5960X but that was almost double the cost. The 5930K was a god compromise, at least for me.

I was talking with the partner and he said the 5930k would benefit me more in autodesk, I've already got 5 ssds and 1 PCIe ssd.
But what about the rendering time and overall performance for the 5930k vs 5820k. I really don't care about price because my partner would be paying for the whole thing.
Does the 5930k have more powerful single cores?

Marginal difference.....I'd say they were about the same. Just for reference (there is some variance in there):
