My PC is less than 10ft from my router, clear line of sight. Signal strength is maximum, running Win10. My home broadband is 1000 mbps, I'm using the Asus AC68U router which is capable of 1300mbps.

Using speedtest on the PC, I am getting 0.5 mbps when using the Belkin N300. It connects at 2.4ghz, but is advertised as capable of 300 mbps. I'm not asking for 300, but at least my ipad and iphone are getting upwards of 100 mbps at the same location where the PC is.

I've updated the Belkin driver, and I don't know what else to do. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Before going any further, let's clear a few things up.

Firstly, 2.4ghz is the radio frequency, not the speed.

Secondly, you may be confusing MBps (big 'B' = megabyte) and Mbps (small 'b' = megabit). A megaBIT is 1/8 of a megaBYTE. If your broadband is rated 1000 MBps, you're probably as fast as a Google data centre (slight exageration), but if you're on 1000 Mbps, you're running at a more realistic 125 megabytes... often just called 'meg'.

Thirdly, the rated speed of the router (be it 1300 or just 300) is the speed of data through the router ONLY. Data transfer speed from the Internet isn't factored, with far too many variables.

Forth, with only 10 feet to cover, you can probably get better, and more reliable, and MORE SECURE data transfer by using a cable if possible. But that's just a recommendation.

Now, with all that in mind, you should still be getting better than 0.5 (Mb or MB). Have you rung up your Internet service provider and asked them to do a line check? There could be some kind of fault. I'm assuming you're on Fibre, so I can't suggest anything more as it's not available in my area, thus no experience... Good old UK!
