Defective HDD or did I cause it?

Hi all, I bought a seagate barracuda 2tb hard drive and it did not show up in windows but did in the BIOS. I think thats normal for a new drive until you partition it right?

So I went into aomei partition assistant and initialized my new HDD before I did anything else. As soon as I initialized the drive disappeared in aomei,windows, and the BIOS.

Was initializing it wrong to do, I thought you had to do that before you partitioned it....Is there anyway for me to get the drive to show back up? Any help will be so very much appreciated.

Open disk management (from windows) and try to initialize it from there. It should appear once that is done

*Not sure if you can boot right now but that above step would be possible if you can boot*

Check the cables or try another sata port

I checked the disk management from windows and it does not show up there either. I can boot, I have my os on my 1tb. The cables and sata port are also ok as I took out my 500gb drive and plugged the 2tb with the same cables my working 500gb was hooked up to. Any other guesses or is it defective?
