my knowledge about computers is pretty basic but recently because of my work i need to upgrade my processor but i want to make sure that the PC will work properly after upgrading also is the i5 better in every aspect ? bec i see that the i3 is 3.3 GHz but the i5 is only 3.1

Motherboard: GB P61A-D3 with socket 1155
Ram : 2 x 4 GB Kingston hyper X fury
CPU : i3 2120 3.3 GHz
an IT guy told me that the motherboard doesn't support 4th Generation processors and i should buy the 3rd Generation i5 3340 3.1 GHz and he said it would cost me 200$
