Is the base model of Surface Pro 4 worth it?

I'll just be doing basic school work, web surfing/social networks/youtube, photoshop and some light video editing on premiere pro (like trimming/stitching video clips and colour correction). Would the base model be able to do all that?

Yep. Surface Pro 4 is very well suited for that kind of stuff. You must buy the additional keyboard though, otherwise you're only getting a fat tablet.
Me personally use a Chromebook which has 14hr battery life and a very good keybord. Costed 200$ and has everything I need for school
