Good day guys :D
I would like to kindly ask for a recommendation
I would like to buy a gpu for nvidia gamestream (pc to nvidia shield)
Requirements: better gpu than the gtx 650
My monitor resolution is 900p but i will mostly stream my games in 720p (if not i would just keep my hd 7750 xD )

My specs asus maximus hero viii
I7 6700k
2x4gb ddr4 corsair vengance lpx 2666mhz (on stock 2133 now)
Xfx pro series xxx 850w
Samsung sm951 m.2 pcie ssd
Wd black drive
Zalman z11 plus case
Raijintek triton liquid cooler

Budget for gpu is 400$

I like to play around with overclocking

But in my last build i had an a6 5400k that was constantly overheating 80c+ (thats why i went intel) so i would like to stay away from dangerous temperatures

the hd 7750 still rocks well but as far as i know amd has nothing like the shield (and they dont plan to have)

So if im right changing to nvidia is my only option to play on the road :/

Also i would like to ask when is it time to upgrade?
The a6 build was unstable (constant bsod due to very cheap and very poor quality motherboard) and constant overheating issue whenever i launched a game (stock and artic freezer 13 alike) so changing it was a nobrainer

However the radeon hd 7750 is stable and works fine and thats why i donno if changing it to like a gtx 960 4gb or 970 4gb is worth it :/ (as i figured the aftermarket versions of thiese cards fit prefectly in my budget but i dont know which one as they all cost almost the same)(the r9 390 also fits and its a pretty awesome card if only amd would have gamesream too x( )

Thank you for your help

With such a high end build, it would be a shame to cheap out on the monitor. Get this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card ($299.99 @ NCIX US)
Monitor: Asus VS238H-P 23.0" Monitor ($128.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $428.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

You'll be able to max out any current game no problem, and most probably the next generation of games too. It supports gamestream, don't worry, any Nvidia card does regardless of whether it is a reference design or made by another manufacturer, like EVGA or ASUS.

Have you already bought all of the parts?

If not, I'd go with an i5 6600K and a better GPU, slightly less expensive motherboard (Although that is a fine one too.) and better monitor.

The Raijintek Triton certainly is a very good looking water cooler, but I'd be a bit cautious about buying one as there are quite a few reviews stating that the CPU block cracked and leaked in a few weeks (Or even days!) time.

I still have warranty for the triton altou i am cautios i was thinking that proper usage can make all the difference i dont care about looks i will see this build like for 1 day in 3 months lol :p but its one of the best performing coolers and i got it dirt cheap ;)

I already have the full build and the monitor but i will use it for gamestream 99.99% anyway im on 4g lte bcs im always on the move and there is no mobile internet connection that can support more than 720p so im pretty much stuck with that :/

I think the gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming will be about right for 720p gamestreaming its bad for high resolutions bcs of its vram issue anyways hoping im not going to cross that 3.5gb line with starcraft 2 that game is terrible when others can lag my system with their millions of zerglings :/

And the build is only expensive for reliability :D i cant be fixing problems 500 miles away :/ (thou im still getting memory management errors sometimes when windows updates for some reason)

But i cant really go higher bcs i use lte/4g :/ i would be internet limited
As i saw the 970s vram issue it just means you get 30fps if you use all your vram and im a console player mostly im fine with 30 :)

You can use more than 4gb under 1080p :/

His res is 1600x900 mine is 1440x900 (on the monitor) 1280x720 on the shield (mostly i play on shield)
He is using all his vram for gta 5 getting 30fps seems fine i think :/

You *can* use more than 4. Hell, you *can* use more than 8 on GTA V at 1080p with the correct settings.

The fact is, you're chucking money out the window using a 970 at lower resolutions. But hey, it's your decision and your money to burn, so good luck.

What point??
You said its using a ton of vram i have no idea what i missed :/
And what do you mean correct settings? He is just maxing the settings the 970 should handle max settings in 900p :/

No, I said you *can* use 8 GB VRAM to make a point if you so wanted. GTA V has some very high-end settings that can eat through VRAM if you choose to do so.

Honestly, you appeared to be rather misinformed on the subject generally and I'm not even sure why you asked a question given that you seem to have decided the answer to your question before it was even asked. I'm done here.
