I adjusted my CPU ratio from 16 to 17 this morning and now when it resets, there is no picture on either monitor and bios will not open. Any thoughts? I had it running at 16 completely fine yesterday but the instant it restarted with 17, no pic. I am using OC Genie II to get an idea of my boundaries as well.

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955
Corsair H80i GT Cooler
MSI 970A-G43 Motherboard
8gb Kingston Hyper X 1866 RAM
700 watt ATX power supply

Solution

Theres a battery its right under the first PCIe slot on that board. Go ahead and remove it wait a minute or two and replace it.

While normally that should not prevent you from going into the BIOS, the easiest fix here is to open up your computer (after you unplug it) and pull the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS. Then see if it boots. If its just that setting you should be fine.

As as side note what brand and model is your PSU. If its low quality that may well cause you issues if you try to overclock, hence the problem you ran into.

I'm in the process of upgrading everything and honestly, I'm not sure of the brand of the PSU. It's an ATX 700W PSU. I haven't inspected my mobo well enough to determine if it has a battery, jumper, or reset button. I'm currently at work so I'll have to check that when I get home. Thanks!

Corsair H80i GT. I have the fans set up as push/pull so I didn't think that would be an issue. I only paid like $75 for my mobo and now I bet I'm going to suffer for being cheap...

Do you think a FX 6300 or 4350 would be worth upgrading to? The 4 core shows higher speeds, just not sure of the extras with 2 more cores.

I see no reason to. The FX-6300 is just not a big enough jump, the 4350 is barely faster than yours. I looked at upgrading mine and its just not enough performance boost to be worth spending the money. I mean I guess if you can get a REALLY good price on the 6300 sure, but TBH the money is better spent upgrading the whole system overall.
