I have been given an IBM Surepos 4810-33H and want to put my own OS on it. I have tried to install windows on a new hard drive and then put it in the IBM machine but whenever i do that it keeps restarting. Its like the OS is flasshed to the motherboard/CMOS batter. However, the problem is i can't see a CMOS battery.
HELP PLEASE

Installing windows on another machine and then putting that hard drive in a different PC, after it's installed all the drivers for the first machine, will cause issues regardless or what the 2 PC's are. Once that hard drive has the drivers for it installed, then it tries to load those on the new PC, and crash, restart loop.

Why not just try to install the Windows directly on the machine.

Is there a model number of the PC?

It is a IBM Surepos 300 (4810-33H)
I have tried to install windows directly on to it but it does not load. it always requires a BIOS password which i do not know

Follow this link for drivers for that pc http://www-01.ibm.com/support/dlsearch.wss?rs=219&r=30&q=DWN4810-33x
remove cmos battery to remove bios password(it's behind the riser pcb)
Windows won't load because it needs a sata driver, two solutions one,use an ide hard drive(2 ide ports on the board) two, download sata driver from above link then copy it to an external usb floppy drive then when loading windows, press F6 when prompted on screen to load additional drivers or you could make a new windows cd with the sata driver incorporated.
