Hi.
I am upgrading my ram on a thinkcentre m58p type desktop computer. I ran the crucial ram diagnostic tool and I was informed that i could upgrade to a max of 16 gbs with the current configuration.
They suggested a "compatible" memory called:
4gb kit (2gbx2) ddr3 pc3-12800 unbffered NON-ECC 1.5V 256Meg x 64 (Crucial model number CT5510318)

I went to a memory store last night and i was told that i could use the kingston version and so i bought it.
This part number has the following information on it:
8gb memory kit 8gb ddr3 - 1600 cl 10 240 - pin udimm kit (2x2gb) .(Hyperx)

Today i installed it, but the computer responds with a sequence of 4 beeps that repeat 4 times (4 -4 - 4 -4)

Can you tell me what the problem is pllease?

The Q45 chipset that is used with your mobo (if this is the correct model of M58P) dates back to 2008 and doesn't support DRAM that uses high density memory chips which is all Kingston uses these days. What's the actual model number of the Kingston sticks? If this is the case you'll want to look for sticks that were made using low density memory ICs, like the GSkill Ripjaws (original not the Z or X series) or GSkill's NT series of sticks. Also will prob be better off on that mobos chipset with 1066 or 1333 sticks

Hi there. I think i understood half of what you said. The memory stick model number? i am not sure. The label in the back has the following info:
hx316c10fbk2/8
99u5402 - 443.aoolf
0000007104249 - p000294
whl4j - q9jp19 - 7wk3f

That's all the info there.
Do you think that the crucial memory suggested by their compatibility tool would work on my thinkcentre?

Thank you

These are Hyper X Fury - which have 2 strikes, A) made with high density memory ICs (not compatible and B) operate under PnP also not compatible, sorry.

The ones from Crucial might well work, but might call and double check. Have run into problems here in the past where it said one thing and the sticks just weren't compatible

Hi there.
So i returned the hyper x cards - went to memory express and got them to give me another set of ram cards to try on my system

This time - i got the following:
corsair ddr3 4gb 1333mhz (barcodes in the back say: 152300509 and CMV4GX3M1A1333C9
I got two of the them.

The system now gave me a sequence of 3 beeps on start up. don't know what that means..
I also removed the little circular battery from the board for a few minutes and placed it back and still got the same beeping sequence.
I don't know what to do anymore.
Thank you
