Build Advice - Gaming and Virtualization capable?

Hi all,

Whilst I appreciate the two don't go hand in hand, I'm aiming to build a dual purpose desktop for Gaming and Virtualization purposes. The budget isn't huge, I'd like to stick to around £600 (give or take).

I'm not aiming for top end spec in either department (and know full well I wouldn't achieve it on the budget!).

I'd like to be able to run the latest games with reasonable graphic settings so will need a fair spec GPU.

I'll also be aiming to create 2-3 virtual servers plus a couple of workstations on the machine for educational/testing purposes. I'll be using VmWare for this. These will only need thin provisioning as they won't be undergoing much stress and I'll rarely have them fired up all at once, so I'll be able to suffer a bit of a performance hit when necessary. Personally I think a fair spec Multi-Core CPU and 16GB RAM should be sufficient.

I've not built from scratch before, so if anybody has done anything similar before or has suggestions on components, it would be hugely appreciated! :hihi:

Cheers!

Joe
