Have a MSI Gaming Z97 ver 5 motherboard. Updated a lot of stuff, including the BIOS, and other MSI programs. Now, after an hour, instead of going to sleep - my computer turns off. WTF.

I can't find a setting that's doing this. It's not in Windows 10 power options. Help!

Any recorded events in event viewer pertaining to the shutdown? Their should be that would give me a better idea as to whats causing it. Do you have a haswell cpu with a non haswell certified psu? That will cause issues if you try to put it in sleep mode.

No I checked Event Viewer. Also I noticed that "disk checking" seems to happen each time from the MSI BIOS when the computer turns back on. Is that a clue? I have had sleep mode work fine with my new processor for at least 6 months now so it seems to be a software thing.

Does disk checking come up with any errors? Usually it will only do that repeatedly if it thinks the hard drive has a bad sector or some other fault.

no errors - the MSI logo pops up - says "checking for disk errors" - then goes straight to windows 10. What would cause the computer to shut down after non-activity instead of sleep?
