Hello everybody. Recently my old motherboard asus p5q has died, and i had a chance to get for near free, asus p5e3 deluxe motherboard. My other system is PSU GX650W, CPU Q9550 OC. 3.6, SSD ADATA 128GB, 1TB 7200rpm drive for data, GPU radeon hd7950. few fans bla bla. My main question is, i use alot of aplication, so i need some ram. Since i can't use my old ddr2, i want to put 8 gigs of ddr3. As asus stayted in their specifications i can put 2gigs max per slot. So i find for very cheap 4x2gb ddr3 1600mhz corsair xms3 1.65v.
Now my main problem and question for you guys is: can i run memory at 1.65v, or will it be just fine if i make it 1333mhz and set it to 1.5v. Also, will i be able to overclock my cpu , with ram set to 1333mhz from 1600 and lower voltage, when i can not change multiplier, but only the FSB. i am very limited to exactly this set of rams CORSAIR XMS3 1600mhz 1.65v. 4x2gb.Thank you all. And also, i dont want to upgrade to new system, i just want to put some ram in my old machine, and get some mid overclock on the cpu.
