I'm thinking it's time to upgrade my GPU possibly so here is my current setup:
Asus Sabertooth z77
2500k 4.5 super stable at 1.325
EVGA GTX 670
8GB 1600
Samsung 840

I'm mostly thinking that my GPU either needs to be upgraded but I've honestly considered a full overhaul if you guys think it's needed. Let me know if a GPU upgrade is a good idea and if so what do you recommend, upgrade now to a 970 or wait for the next generation and upgrade then?

Edit: Also forgot to mention that I'm running and plan to stay at 1080p on my BenQ monitor so I don't think I'll be jumping up in resolution any time soon.

Solution
Are you running into issues with video memory? If not I would opt for another 670. This is strictly my opinion, but a 970 would be a great upgrade.
No need for a complete system upgrade. Intel's performance increases have been minimal for several generations now.

As for the GPU, if your current one no longer meets your needs, then the 970 would be a solid upgrade (and Newegg is having several sales on them for their "newsletter" members). If your current GPU is still doing Ok, just wait for the next Gen. I bought a used card off Ebay and went with Crossfire to extend the performance and get me to the next Gen.

The PSU should be fine, its an Antec HCG 900 which is believe is Tier1/2 so that shouldn't be an issue.

I figured as much since my system still runs most of what I want just fine and even works well with DSR settings for most games. I'll wait till I get a nominal performance increase and if I need to hold over I'll grab a 670 to tide me.

I was looking to upgrade as well, decided against it do to exchange rate changes in usd vs cdn. I'm simply going to dial back settings until I can afford a used 970 next year or so. In most games I play the 970 still isnt required, for full settings with a few exceptions but I'm playing games I like not just all the bleeding edge games. But if I were that might be the direction I would go (no sli option)

GTA 5 isn't really an issue we cant all ultra all of the time.

AC Unity yes for sure,

Arkham knight was fixed it is no longer a problem.

Witcher 3, you can't play ultra with either card.

The additional 670 is gonna be 100 dollars

The 970 is going to be 250 dollars more after selling the old 670 for 100 dollars

The 970 is in no way shape or form worth spending the additional 250 dollars over the other 670. The sli 670's is a great stop gap while waiting for a true upgrade in the next cycle of products. 100 now and 400 later (assuming OP gets 150 for both when pascal is released) will certainly be worth it over 350 now and regret later.

Pascal is supposed to be a massive leap over Maxwell I'd wait and see if getting more performance now for 100 bucks is an option.
