Hello

Simple question, I played Oblivion a year ago and I experienced stutter when new sections of the map were loaded. Would this be the case for Skyrim on a WD Cavier Black? If So then I will buy another SSD.

Hi there ImperialistMillitant,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(

HDDs could cause lag/stutter/etc. when loading new textures. Yet, in case WD Black is in a healthy condition, it should do the job.
I would advise you to test it and see whether there is something wrong with it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=tstL73

Apart from that, these games are not really demanding and your system should handle them just fine. Do you face that issue when the game is installed on the SSD?

Let me know how this goes,

This is not a hard drive issue. Hard drives simply cause a delay between zones, not stutter. Stutter is from the graphics card/cpu/ram taking time to process all the new environment created by the new zone. A new hard drive will not help. Most likely the graphics card. What are your system specs?

I can't "reply" because I'm using a phone.
My specs are in the signature so it should be fine for oblivion.
The "lag" if we shall call it, occurs when new foliage e.g. is created at a distance, only for a second but it disrupts immersion.
