So my pc cpu started to overheat out of the blue never had an issue before until now. As soon as as i start the pc the cpu temp rises drastically from 28c up to 80c+ within minutes. I just need to know if its the cpu or mobo that could cause the issue.

Using intel i7-4790k and mobo is an asus z97k.cooler is Corsair Hydro Series H55 120mm Liquid CPU Cooler. I already checked the Psu ram etc

What kind of cpu cooler do you have?

I would remove and reapply thermal paste, try different fan slots on your motherboard (CPU Fan/Cha Fans), make sure your radiator is not full of dust. Make sure all your drivers/BIOS are up to date and reset any overclocking to default for now.

That is my guess, I had this problem last night with my H80i, my pumps stopped working and my radiator immediately gets super hot and my cpu temps start out at about 45C when I used to sit at around 25-30, the fact that you are at 80+ means one of the following: your power supply is not delivering enough power (which you said you tested but could you tell me the wattage and brand of your psu?), your thermal paste could be old and not getting a good connection (replace every 6-12 months typically), your motherboard is capable of high overclocking so I could not see it being the problem. Did you ever attempt overclocking?

The Corsair CX750 is made with low quality components and it not recommended for high end gaming, some Thermaltakes as well, find your exact models and figure out which tier they are in, here.
