Why is it that my internet works only with Windows 7 Ultimate x86?

It could be that your "ethernet adapter" inside your pc is only compatible with Windows 7.
You need to update the drivers for it through the manufacturer's website/ through device manager
Also, update windows to the latest version using windows update
