Is this the best PC in this price range for 3D modeling, animation, rendering?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pWXnD3 I've never built a computer before so I am not 100% sure if this is the best bang for my buck. I work a lot with 3D modeling and rendering and with this new power I intend to be doing a lot of animation as well. I also intend to use the Creative Cloud such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. The 3D modeling program I use now is Blender, but I plan on using 3DS Max in the future. I plan on playing games from time to time, but it's not my main focus for this build.

If you have any suggestions for better parts that doesn't go too far above the current price I would be very grateful for the help. As for the monitor, I really like the idea of 21:9, but can any of you tell me if the colour is good for digital art (Graphic designing, 3D art, painting)?

The X99 (LGA 2011v3) is necessary for the 5820K as well as DDR4 ram. The 5820K has 6 cores so potentially offers a performance boost on your rendering. Check out some reviews and benchmarks specifically looking at the data on your software. There will be certain tasks the 4790 will best the 5820 there is a review on this sight as well as several at some other good sites. Just google the reviews. CC apps are usually included so you can see some specific results.

I believe the G series is tier 2 so no problem there. Though you are cutting it close with 550W. I personally went with 860W for overclocking overhead and possible 2 card in the future. Better to spend an extra $20-30 now than a whole new PSU if you want to upgrade...

Check out the PSU tier list over in the Component forum. The cs/cx line are not the best. For a workstation I wouldn't get anything less than a tier 1, like a Seasonic.

Do you have a Microcenter nearby? The 4790k is only $279 there and you could even investigate a 5820K for $300 and you can get a decent x99 MB for $250

Unless you are going to OC you don't need a watercooler.

How is the SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply?

People seem to like the Maximus VII more than the x99 and it seems to be cheaper. Could you please tell me why the x99 is better?

I might overclock in the future if ever the need should arise. Should I get it just in case? If I didn't though what CPU cooler would you recommend?

If you do rendering intensively, you would want to have more cores/threads and more RAM, if the programs you are using can utilize more threads.

X99 platform is a quad channel platform, only on this platform you can go 8x -- GB RAM.
On Z170 and Z97, you can only have 4x --GB RAM.

The i7s on X99 have also more cores e.g. i7 5820k, i7 5930k, etc.

Nothing like having to tack on an extra $100-140 to the price of a GPU upgrade because you need a new PSU.

I definitely spend a lot more time 3D modeling rather than rendering and when I do render I usually don't have insanely large scenes. Would 16 GB suffice?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VZwkMp How is this looking now? I think that I might just stick with the motherboard and processor I have on there. Thank you for you help!

I would switch that Samsung 840 for a 850, better and cheaper. Good choice on the seasonic PSU, only $20 more than I paid for it, it will serve you well into your next build.

Just a thought but do you have any friends or family that live near a Microcenter? For just $50 more you could go with the 2011 platform. CPU/MB/RAM. Moving to a Corsair or XFX branded PSU made by Seasonic could save you that $50.

Honestly I've never heard of a Microcenter until you brought it up. I looked one up and I guess I have one in my city. Can you please explain to me everything after that? I'm the most tech savvy of people. Haha!

[strike][strike][/strike][/strike]Bring your wife when you go to Microcenter otherwise you will walk out 3 hours later with a shopping cart full of $700 in "necessary" peripherals. That's why they sell the CPUs so cheap. :)

5820k $300
http://www.microcenter.com/product/437203/Core_i7-5820k_33_GHz_LGA_2011_V3_Tray_Processor
Gigabyte UD3 x99 MB $179 after Mail in rebate. They may still have the $20 off CPU/MB combo discount.
http://www.microcenter.com/product/449962/GA-X99-UD3P_LGA_2011-3_ATX_Intel_Motherboard
Use that $20 to get a better MB or the 2 year protection plan.
16GB Corsair DDR4 ram. 4x4. $109. Or whatever your favorite is.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OTJZTJU/?tag=pcpapi-20
Total $588
Your total was $606 for CPU/MB/RAM and now you have 50% more cores on a high-end platform.

You have some wiggle room to upgrade the MB to a level you are happy with or maybe get 32GB ram for about $200.

I initially bought a MSI x99s Gaming 7 open box for $148 with MIR/combo discount. It ended up having some issues with the USB ports so I took it back and went with the Asus Sabertooth for $300. One big difference you will see with these boards is most of them have a revision that includes USB 3.1. Sometimes on the board and sometimes as an add on card, but the premium for that is $75-$100. From the x99 reviews on this site and others all of the x99 boards are good, they just make certain compromises on the configurations.

I honestly don't know what I was trying to say about the PSU other than don't get a cheap cS/CX corsair
Here is a good Tier 2 Seasonic 550w semi-modular for $79
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00918MEZG/?tag=pcpapi-20
EDIT: scratch that, I am contradicting myself here. Opps. What I meant was corsair and XFX have some lines that are made by Seasonic and get rebates frequently so you could still get a quality 850w or so PSU for much less than $100 if you put some work into it. Go look at the PSU tier list in the stickies at the Components forum. Keep an eye on r/buildapcsales. Sorry,no am tired.
Check the deals on newegg daily and I bet you can get an equal quality/more wattage for less within a week with promos/rebates.

Here is my build if you are interested. Still can't decide on 16 or 32GB RAM, I really want gsync or free sync on the monitor so I will probably send the unopened Ben Q back and wait for the Q4 releases. Definitely waiting to see what happens with the Samsung 950 M.2 drives in the next month, may just get a big 850 1TB on sale over the holidays.

You now have lots to think about. :)
