Is 4GB RAM enough for current modern games ?

Solution

Then 4gb will be totally fine. It's kind of like this: The more pixels your monitor shows, the more pixels you have to store in your RAM.

1366x768=1049088 pixels
1920x1080=2073600 pixels

So in comparison to 1080p you only have half the pixels, so you wouldnt need 8gb in ANY game. Since...

Depends on the texture settings. If you want them to run on high/ultra you'll need atleast 8gb @1080p and 16gb @1440p.
Some games like Total War can even use up more than 8gb @1080p.

For medium/low settings @1080p 4gb should be enough.

No specific benchmark to prove this but real life experience. Friend of mine had a few crashes with Total War Rome 2 (i think) at max settings with 8gb RAM showing an error message which said, that the system didnt have enough ram. This was at just 1080p.

And i had A LOT of crashes with GTA V and Shadow of Mordor at max settings @1440p, and the same error message. Bought 16gb of RAM and never saw that error message again since then.

I think the best answer is No, if you consider the Star Wars Battlefront minimum requirements of 8GB RAM.
If that game starts with less than 8GB is still not completely answered, because it's not released yet, but the statement alone should be more than enough to prove that to build something futureproved u should at least consider 8GB
