Hello,

I have tried to install an SSD into an old Samsung laptop (Samsung NP-R700) but when I install Windows 7 on it, it gives me this error:

Windows cannot install required files. make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007045D

I have tried with different install disks, even with different SSDs.....but no luck....is there something to do with the BIOS or drivers missing for the SSD?

Thank you

that's the problem...I can't enable AHCI in BIOS because there is no such thing in that version of BIOS. I could upgrade the BIOS it but I can't do it because the battery is faulty and I can't install the new BIOS version. It gives me an error saying that the battery is not pluged in or the battery is less than 30%

Ok, well you might be stuck because of that. If your BIOS needs updating but is getting held up because of an old battery the best suggestion I can give is to get a new battery and update BIOS.

Before you throw in the towel though, I did find another thread concerning this issue which was apparently solved. Take a look here and follow the links that jonnyb105 suggested looking over. Hopefully these might get things going for you:

The final solution on that thread was to start resetting the internal hardware one by one, but I'm afraid since you're on a laptop that will be much more difficult or not an option for you.

I will let you know....as far as I know...I won't be able to update the BIOS without the battery. Is there a way do run the update from a USB bootable stick?

On the Samsung site for the NP-R700 it looks like they have a BIOS update you can initialize while in-Windows.

At the very bottom of the site I've linked below look under the "Firmware" section. There you can download the BIOS update and hover your mouse over the '?' symbol to see instructions.

I don't think you can run this from a USB, but I'll certainly double check to make sure.
