Looking to upgrade and need to know what will be compatible.

What would be the best way to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 3847 with processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4130 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40GHz, 8GB RAM, graphics card Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400 total available graphics memory:4182 MB, dedicated video memory: 128MB, suste, video memory: 0MB, shared system memory: 4054MB. looking to get atleast 1GB of dedicated memory at the least since most games require that much.

Should be able to - will want to verify that your PSU will support whatever GPU you decide on - most prebuilts have PSU that will support the base config with no extra for upgrading components

this limits your upgrade to a gtx 750 ti that runs off the power of the pcie slot only, like this:

do you know how much of a change getting that card will be to what i currently have. like if ill be able to run games with good fps, currently i get like 15fps in most games and on low to lowest settings.

its not even comparable, the difference is quite huge as you are running the cpu's built in hd 4400

which games are you looking to play?

the 750 ti can run most new games 1080p quite well at medium/high settings

and some older games maxed out, it matches your cpu quite well

Minecraft FTB, GTAV, FO4, starwars battlefront, 7 days to die, emyprion galactic survival, so basically newer games and early access ones, tho i know early access depends mostly on the optimization.

gta5 will run better than ps4

empyrion galactic survival, easily max it out

7 days to die runs like poop regardless of your pc setup

the other games too early to tell

to run modern newer games well @ 1080p, i would recommend an i5 + gtx 950 minimum which would mean a new power supply as well.

yes that 750 ti would run in your current system

you would need to upgrade your power supply first before getting anything better like that gtx 950

either option is good, compared to what you have now

i was just wondering if i get the 750 ti if it will run fine on say a 500w power supply if i upgrade my current one to have a higher power supply to get the gtx 950 later on, or will it be better to get the new power supply and the new card at the same time.

the higher the power supply wattage the less it has to work to power everything, having a 1000w power supply would not hurt the 750 ti

so you can save to buy a new power supply first, then upgrade the gpu yes
