Why is this pre build computer so cheap?

Where builds like this make money are on parts like:

Motherboard quality
PSU (power supply) quality
RAM quality
Hard Drive quality

It is often hard to find a full spec sheet for these types of builds because the parts listed above are often very cheap.

Personal Anecdote: Several years ago before I started building PC's I bought one of these rigs for a family member. Years later, after I had plenty of experience building from the ground up, I was upgrading components in the pre-built machine and noticed the motherboard only supported SATA 2 and the PSU was such poor quailty that I was suprised it had lasted as long as it had.

I missed the fact that it was open box. I knew that the parts where probably cheap but even trying to build a computer the same with cheap parts it was way more expensive. The open box explains everything.
