so im buying the Intel Core i5-4460 and i wanted to know if the motherboard will work with this CPU or will it need an update first? and if it does does it require to have an older CPU or it can boot to BIOS without one?

Solution
The point is to get a board from a vendor that has quick turn around.

If they go through inventory every few weeks then the board will be a newer one from ASUS.

If you get it from a small or local vendor that would only have to reorder stock every 9-12 months then you could easily get a board with old firmware that does not support the cpu.
Buy the board from a company like newegg or amazon that goes through stock quickly and you will likely be ok and it will support haswell refresh out of the box.

Fortunatly ASUS boards support updating bios without needing a supported CPU so worst case scenario you will just have to do that.

theres no newegg in my country...

DO you not already own the board?

That board will support the CPU but it depends on the BIOS version. If you get one that has an older BIOS version you will need to update the BIOS first which requires a CPU that is supported.

The board supports that CPU as of BIOS version 804. That chip has been out long enough that a new board should have a BIOS equal to or later than 804 but it may not, although I doubt it.

Have you thought of getting say a H97 chipset board instead?

yeah but the h81m-plus is cheaper(at least in my country)and im on a budget right now and i dont wanna spend too much on mobo like more than 62 Euros

If you are in Europe then you most likely will get a board with a newer BIOS revision which will out of the box support that CPU. I just cannot give you a 100% yes that it will as where you buy it might happen to have a older stock that could not have the newer BIOS revision.

Only if you get a 9 series chipset can I say 100% yes that you wont have compatibility issues.
