Hello everyone, first of all I apologize for my English is not very good, I am writing from Italy.

I just bought the PSU of EVGA, the supernova 850 G2 and I wanted some clarification regarding the connection of the various modular cables.

My video card is a GTX 780ti that requires a connection 8pin + 8pin and in the package are two types of cables.

The first has an 8pin cable to connect the PSU mind across two connections ''like a Y split'' 6pin+2pin + 6pin. Now, if the cable is the right one would need an adapter that brings the 6pin to 8pin.

The second cable has an 8pin on one side and the other side a 6pin + 2pin. Here I wanted to know, if I could use two of these cables to power a VGA, or should I use to force the other cable with any adapter. That is, I do not understand if the PSU must use a single input '' VGA '' or you can connect multiple cables to a single VGA. I'm afraid to supercharge the VGA.

I apologize if I made a very silly question to some of you, but mind you, I would not risk burning anything, I want to play it safe

Thank you and good evening.

Thank you for having responded to me.

Currently I have a power supply a little old and in the box there was only one type of cable to power the VGA, a 6pin + 2 pin + 6-pin, and here I had to use an adapter 6pin to 8pin unfortunately.

Now in this EVGA is the same cable that was present in the old power supply (6 + 2-pin + 6 pin), but are also present x2 6 + 2, however, it is that seeing currently fed by one splitter cable to '' Y '', to use two cables would be afraid to supercharge the VGA.

Sure it is not supercharged? I would not burn anything. :p

you should use the power cables that come with the psu, not the y style adapters of the graphics card. there should be 2 at least vga cables or pci ex 6+2 pins on one end - that goes on the graphics card and 8 pin on the side that goes in the psu. if i remember correctly, that evga you can't plug modular cables in any other place then they're meant to (in your case use either 2 of the vga 1-4 ports and 2 cables of the 4 that came with the psu)

I don't know exactly, but I don't see what is troubling you. In own the 850W G2 myself. It comes with 4 VGA cables. I know at least 2 of those are (6 + 2) + 8 cables, if not all 4 that came with those. You need 2 of those cables. One plugs into VGA 1, the 8 side, and the (6 + 2) into the card. The second plugs into VGA 2, the 8 side, and the (6 + 2) into thew card also.
