Hello I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card.

I've been looking around and have done some research but will admit I am not an expert and would like some advice.

I'm looking to get an EVGA 960

So currently what I know about my build is:

HAF 922 case
Cooler master GX 650w Power supply
EVGA nvidia geforce gtx 560
Asus Sabertooth z77
DDR3 16 GB of RAM
Intel core i7 3770 cpu @ 3.40 GHz

Now there were two 960's I was looking at, I want to make sure it would fit in my case and work with my system and I'm not sure how to know I'm making the right purchase. I was told that the Z77 handles pci 3.0 DDR3 and the 960 would be DDR5, but supposedly it would work because the gpu's ram is independent from the board?

Should I also look into getting a new board or am I fine? I'm looking for a price range bellow $300 for this GPU and I would be willing to hear alternatives or advice. Thank you in advance.

The two different models I was looking at were:

  • EVGA GeForce GTX 960 04G-P4-3966-KR 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card

    4GB 128-Bit GDDR5
    Core Clock 1279 MHz
    Boost Clock 1342 MHz
    1 x DVI-I 1 x HDMI 3 x DisplayPort
    1024 CUDA Cores
    PCI Express 3.0 x16

Or

EVGA GeForce GTX 960 04G-P4-3968-KR 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support FTW ACX 2.0+ Video Card

  • 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5
    Core Clock 1304 MHz
    Boost Clock 1367 MHz
    1 x DVI-I 1 x HDMI 3 x DisplayPort
    1024 CUDA Cores
    PCI Express 3.0
