Hi I'm new here and a noob at computer hardware. My problem is I cant find a up to date low profile video card for my mother board that is better that what I have now. Space is limited.
I have an : HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410f
AMD Phenom II x6 1045T Processor 2.70 GHZ
16GB RAM 64bit OS Windows 7 with a Radeon HD 5570 video card.
I upgraded the ram but now have been looking for a new card but got a major headache with the hundreds out there. My computer only has a 300w power supply so Im figuring that i might have to put 4 or 500w in but I cant find any cards that would FIT into my case (mid size ATX) I dont really care about price but if they are really expensive maybe I should just buy a new computer. My computer performs really well still, but I was hoping to max it out, Any advice from you folks would be very much appreciated. I have read a lot of your posts and your all very knowledgeable.
Thank you,

I think you may already be at that point where upgrading the graphics cards doesn't make much sense. Sure you could put in a single card that would have more performance than your dual 8900 GT cards have, but you will be limited by your CPU, so the gain would only be minor.

I think i need a low profile because the small radeon I have it almost touching components below it. So I cant see a double wide card fitting in the slot without removing stuff. Can i post pictures on this site

Ok, so what you need is a single slot card (which is different from low profile). What components is the card almost touching? Usually there are more PCI slots below the card, so any component in the way might be able to be shifted. A photo would be nice.

From my understanding, to post a photo you 1st need to upload it to a photo sharing website and then embed the link by clicking on the "Picture" icon, which is among the format icons when you reply to someone.

Thought I'd see what single slot cards are available in case you can't move anything. Best I could find is a GT 740 2GB GDDR5, this card is about double the performance of a HD 5570.
This one is both single slot and low profile http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487096&cm_re=gt_740-_-14-487-096-_-Product
And this one is single slot, non low profile, it's overclocked but uses DDR 3 which I don't like so much http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487045

Thanks for your help. I closed my eyes and ordered the 750 ti and a power supply. I I might be able to make it fit. If i cant I will put it in my other computer that has 2 geforce 9800 GT in it.
I will give you a shout when I screw up and fry my computer

Have another card question for you. My other computer AMD phenom 9650 quad core 8gb ram with a ASUS M3N-HT-Deluxe/HDMI mother board Windows 7 Ultimate with 2 Geforce 9800 GT cards in it. I want to replace these. Dont care about cost or power because I have lots.
At what point do you go " maybe I should not upgrade it because of age"? I was thinking maybe trying to put another mother board in it or something but not sure. Any card ideas would be great

As for a new motherboard, well yes, but you would only do that because you are upgrading your CPU too. Your current motherboard will be a socket AM2+ which is an old design and has limited CPU upgrades available, so if you were to upgrade you need both a motherboard and a CPU. Also you would need new ram to go with it as your old ram will not be compatible.
So, if you really want to upgrade your graphics, you really need to think about a total upgrade or a whole new computer. Ok, hope this helped in some way.
