Can't find jumper to clear cmos on H-Joshua.-h61-atx

Solution
Hi bushranger,

The easiest way to clear your cmos would be to remove the circular battery on the motherboard and wait for 10-15 minutes. Put the battery back in and you should be set.

Thanks PC managed to restart after testing for faulty RAM. The problem before this was done was that the PC was not booting and had no video display.

I restarted it a couple of times and was a bit sluggish but not too bad. On the next occasion the PC showed no Video display but did eventually boot after a few minutes. What would be the likely cause of the PC is slow booting.

Is there a programme that can diagnose the fault?

I did notice that when I tested the RAM I got 5 beeps when both cards were removed. When I put the first back in the fan stopped and started a couple of times before kicking in and the PC restarting

That sounds to me like the most likely culprits are the motherboard or RAM. I looked up your PC from the motherboard link you provided, is this correct?

http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/HP/HP_H-Joshua-H61-uATX/2198

HP has posted all the possible BIOS beep codes on this page:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07107#N1031

Without knowing your BIOS type I can't be 100% sure, if you have the AMI BIOS then 5 beeps = Fatal errors related to the operation of critical motherboard components.

-Have you modded your PC in any other way than adding new RAM?
-What type of RAM did you add?

I have managed to:
1 reset the CMOS
2 Take out both RAM cards (was standard RAM which was in when I bought the PC) 5 beep sequence
3 placed back in one card and PC restarted but fan stopped and started a couple of times
4 placed in both RAM card and restarted
5 PC Restarted sluggishly a couple to times
6 Next time no video input but did kick in after a few minutes

I have installed the free version of Speccy to see what the RAM specs are:
Total Memory Slots: 2
Used Memory Slots: 2
Type DDR3
Size 8192 MB
Channels Dual
DRAM Freq 798.4
CAS# Latency 11 clocks
tRCD 11 clocks
tRAS 28 clocks
Total Physical memory 7.96
Available Physical mem 4.61
Total virtual 9.21
Available virtual 5.31
Number of SPD Modules 2

BIOS version AMI 8.15 05/02/2013

It sounds like your motherboard is failing. To rule out RAM as the issue, download the free program Memtest86. I believe you have to then burn it to a CD (Or possibly a USB flash drive), then change the boot order in the BIOS. Restart the computer and run Memtest86 for 10 -20 cycles. It will take quite a while.
