I haven't been repairing PCs for last 4years. This build is for my office. Building a PC after 4 years. I bought Intel G3220 and ASUS H81m C.
When I unboxed Intel processor, I had an odd feeling about the fan that it had 'foxconn' under Intel logo. It had factory sealed sticker. I just want to know if I am fooled with any refurbished processor.
Is there a way to check if its brand new. Through serial number or like that.

This is why you always buy your CPU from reputably businesses you know. You can use this site to verify the CPU has a valid warranty and therefore genuine.

Intel Warranty shows warranty is valid upto August 2018 if FPO number alone entered. But does this mean its not a refurbished one. Also if ATPO number entered it says 'product not located in our records'.

i never heard of any refurbished product offers upto 3 year warranty.. so its probably a genuine one..

Pretty low. Personally I have never heard of a fake CPU. I have heard of people selling the box without the CPU but wording it as so you don't know that but the cost involved with making a fake CPU is pretty hard.

Does the CPU actually work?

What country are you in? Most Intel CPUs I see have Malaysia or Costa Rica on them, not Vietnam but again it depends on the country more than anything.

I don't know of any refurbished CPUs, there are OEM versions they come with a 90day warranty from Intel. then there are pulls, which is some one taking an existing system and puling the CPU out of it and selling it. At most those would have a 30day to 1 year warranty depending on the company that sold it, and not by Intel. Only new original retail CPUs would have a 3 year warranty from Intel.
