MSI 970 with patriot g2 series 1333 4x4gb

i just received new ram from a buddy who upgraded to corsair vengeance RAM, he gave me his old ram he was using 4x4 gb 1333 patriot g2 series for intel.

it is labeled to be optimized for intel but somewhere i read that it worked for AMD but cant recall where i saw that and cant find it again.
i am currently running 2x2 gb of slow 1066 ram and dire need of upgrade for my gaming.
does anyone know if i can use this ram?

can i just put it in my dims to see if it recognizes the ram in my bios?

Put in the DIMMs are see if your PC recognizes it, they should work. Just make sure you remove any of the old RAM you have and don't mix them either

Just got home and now my computer won't boot, power switch isn't working all of a sudden, fans spin for a sec then turn off. 5 sec later they turn back on. 1 sec later they turn off

and this is with the new RAM? Make sure you didn't knock any power connectors loose when you put the new RAM in because what you're describing sounds like a short circuit
